The demographic transition model shows a shift in birth & death rates and the resulting population growth as a country develops.
Stage 1: High Fluctuating
Death & birth rates are high but fluctuating
This stage is uncommon & is found in remote tribes
Stage 2: early expansion
Death rate fall but births still high. Improved health practices drops death. Countriea like Angola, Bangladesh are in this stage. Population rises

Stage 3: Late expansion
Birth rates start to decline and death rates continue to drop. Population continues to increase. newly industrialised countries (NICs) are in this stage

Stage 4: low fluctuating
Death & birth rates are low but fluctuates back & forth. Most developed countries are in this stage.

Stage 5
This is a projected stage were deaths are high than birth rates. Population declines. Some counties such as Sweden are moving into this stage
